Thistledome House is a boutique wedding and celebration venue in historic Byhalia, North Mississippi, convenient to Memphis, Collierville, Olive Branch, and DeSoto County, and welcoming couples from Oxford and throughout the Mid-South.
Set on four acres surrounded by mature trees and lush landscaping, this circa-1840 estate offers a romantic setting for outdoor wedding ceremonies, tented receptions, and intimate celebrations.
Grand columns, inviting parlors, a wrap-around porch, and a lighted brick courtyard bring character to every part of your gathering. From getting-ready moments inside the house to vows on the lawn and an evening reception beneath a tent, your celebration unfolds in a setting rich with history and beauty.
An Outdoor Wedding & Reception Venue
Your Celebration, Beautifully Framed
Thistledome welcomes outdoor weddings and receptions for up to 175 guests, with the historic house serving as a beautiful backdrop and gathering place throughout the day.
Exchange vows on the lawn, welcome guests for cocktail hour in the house and courtyard, then continue the celebration with dinner and dancing beneath a reception tent.
For weddings of this size, the ceremony and reception take place outdoors. The house is used for getting ready, photographs, and cocktail hour, along with the courtyard.
Reception tents are rented separately by the client through a rental company and are not included in the venue rental. Your tent, tables, lighting, and décor can be selected to create a reception that reflects your style.

Thistledome welcomes weddings as a boutique venue, offering a limited number of wedding weekends and an even smaller selection of intimate Sunday weddings.
This intentional approach allows more time and attention for each celebration. We believe the planning process matters just as much as the wedding day itself—from coordinating vendors and arranging the spaces to creating a timeline that allows you to be fully present.
Clients are responsible for hiring an event planner for wedding weekends and a day-of coordinator for Sunday weddings. These services are required and are not included in the venue rental.
Your planner or coordinator helps bring the details together, manages vendors and the wedding-day timeline, and helps the celebration move smoothly from one moment to the next. With thoughtful preparation and experienced coordination, you and your family can relax into the day and enjoy the celebration you have imagined.
The Historic House
A Beautiful Beginning to Your Day
Thistledome’s Greek Revival architecture makes an unforgettable first impression. A commanding wrap-around porch framed by stately columns leads to a grand double-door entrance with an arched transom and sidelights.
Inside, 12-foot ceilings, tall windows, wood floors, chandeliers, and historic fireplaces create warm, elegant spaces for the moments surrounding your ceremony.
The parlors and upper-level Bridal Suite offer room to prepare, take photographs, and spend time with those closest to you. The moody, romantic library serves as the Groom’s Room, offering an intimate setting for the groom and his party to get ready and enjoy the anticipation of the day.
During cocktail hour, the house invites guests to enjoy its historic character as they mingle between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Brick walkways connect the house to a lighted brick courtyard and covered rear porch, creating inviting places for cocktails and conversation. The wrap-around front porch, tiered fountain, gazebo, and landscaped grounds offer beautiful backdrops for photographs throughout the day.
