The renovation process continues on! Transforming a historic house into a charming historical wedding venue involves a meticulous process that combines the preservation of its rich heritage with modern design elements. It seems that one project completion opens the ideas and doors to another project.
We recently hired expert masons to rebuild the chimneys and the front sidewalk with precision and care. The chimneys were in dire need of attention, with missing bricks and a dangerous lean. The front sidewalk, on the other hand, required a wider and more even path. We sourced tumbled bricks to restore the chimneys while maintaining their historical integrity, ensuring they match the original height and design perfectly. Despite the challenge of working at an impressive 40-foot height, the masons diligently preserved the original bricks using a pulley system. The decision to cap off the tops of the chimneys was made to protect them from harsh weather conditions and unwanted critters. Originally the fireplaces used coal for burning, they remain untouched for now, with no immediate plans to convert them to wood or gas burning.
The original historical bricks exude absolute beauty. The meticulous craftsmanship that went into creating each one is a testament to a bygone era of artistry. It was imperative for us to ensure that the rich history remained intertwined with the property. These bricks now form the pathway leading up to the front door, creating a new, yet old, sidewalk that is truly a sight to behold. We take immense pride in how it elevates the front entrance, staying faithful to the house's historical roots while also adding functionality. Our dedication to preserving the historical allure of our property is resolute.
With the front brick sidewalk completed to perfection, it's time for the back one to shine just as brightly. We're not just redoing it - we're going big and glorious! We recently found 4,000 historic paver bricks to create a stunning brick courtyard that will elevate the entire landscaping of the house. As I write this update, the masons are already on site, turning this next dream into a beautiful reality. We can't wait to show the impressive transformation!
